About
Hi folks, I'm Jake
I'm a senior AI engineer at Microsoft. I lead AI support engineering for several of Microsoft's largest strategic partners across banking, software, and healthcare, and I'm the Americas representative for the Agentic Workflows Center of Excellence — which is a long way of saying that when a production AI system breaks at enterprise scale, I'm one of the people who finds out why.
The thread through everything I build is autonomous agents and what it takes to actually trust them. Professionally that means multi-agent systems with real enforcement layers; on my own time it means handing AI agents entire projects and writing honestly about what holds and what breaks. (It goes better than you'd expect. The caveats are the interesting part.)
Before Microsoft, I co-founded a startup and built communications intelligence from zero. My wife and I live in the mountains of Wyoming at 7,200 feet, where the air is thin and the people are hardy.
Off the clock: too many side projects, hiking, amateur cello, scifi, reading about whatever's happening in AI/space/physics, strategy games, and documenting my cats' continued refusal to be impressed by anything I build.
Experience
The Trail So Far
2024 – Present
Senior AI Support Engineer
Microsoft
Lead engineer for VIP accounts including Microsoft's largest partners in banking, software, and healthcare. Built TSGBuilder, a multi-agent pipeline now rolling out as a hosted service across Microsoft support engineering. Training, public content, and a direct product feedback loop that has shaped Azure AI platform features across compliance, embeddings, and identity.
2023 – 2024
Azure AI Support Engineer
Microsoft
Started in Azure OpenAI support, quickly became the person people came to for the hard problems: RAG architectures, vector search, content safety, provisioned throughput. Piloted a cohort-based mentorship model that improved case closure speed by 25%; later adopted as the org-wide standard.
2022 – 2023
Co-Founder
TruckCoinSwap
Co-founded a freight-tech startup. Built the whole stack: Go backend, PostgreSQL, AI-powered document processing. Learned a lot about startup economics and wearing every hat at once.
2020 – 2022
Software Engineer
SturdyAI
Built a B2B communications intelligence platform from scratch to first ARR. NLP models analyzing millions of messages. First real job where I got to build something from zero and watch people use it.
2019 – 2021
Graduate Research & Teaching
University of Wyoming
Blockchain research, teaching emerging tech (VR, Android, robotics) to undergrads, and finishing three degrees. Also where I first learned that explaining things to others is the fastest way to actually understand them.
